BEFORE TRANSFER, CHECK YOUR COMPATIBILITY!
Black Pearl is compatible with the following operating systems:
- Windows 10
- Windows 8.1
- Windows 8
- Windows 7
- OSX El Capitan
- Mountain Lion
- Snow Leopard (Intel)
RIP software is usually installed and left to work for long periods of time (years) on a single hosting workstation. Since printers are not very mobile there is little need to move the software.
Actually, too much activity will create a security issue. The Licensing Server determines the need to protect the License holder from theft and locks down the serial number creating a need for tech support.
Don’t mistake transferring for “sharing”. Some users believe they need to move a RIP from computer to computer in order to print. It is much easier than that, a single install of AccuRIP printing to a one printer can be used to service an unlimited amount of computers on the same network. Actually it is the computer OS (Apple Windows) that shares the AccuRIP printer drivers to all other computer on the network. Search “sharing” to learn more.
How to Transfer properly:
1. Be up-to-date within the version.
Install latest Updates (free) before transferring, improving server communication. Black Pearl has a built in Update feature called Install Software Update. When an Update is available for download, this feature will make itself active (black). From the Quick menu or the Support Menu choose Install Software Update.
If no Update is available, move to step 2.
2. Once the Update is completed from the Quick Menu or Activation Menu choose Transfer Activation.
3. Follow directions on-screen, giving the Licensing Servers a full 15 minutes to process and reset your License before installing the same Black Pearl Serial Number onto a different computer.
If you still run into issues after following the above steps, you will need to submit a help ticket with Freehand Graphics (the manufacturers of your software), to get further assistance. Click here to fill out the online ticket form. Fill out all of the fields and in the message, communicate the issue as well as the steps you have performed to try and troubleshoot. They have a very quick response time and the more information you can provide on what is going on, the faster they will be able to resolve the issue.
