Wood platens are an economical option for using with your press. However, if you use a flash dryer to cure you will want to create a different curing station than the platens on your press. The excessive heating and cooling due to time required for curing on a wood platen can cause them to warp. This makes the printing surface uneven and hard to deposit ink properly.
Once the shirt is done remove it and place it on a different surface for curing. This will extend the life of your wood platens.
Other options would be to cure with a conveyor dryer or switch to aluminum platens.
