This email provides the required conditions to Transfer, Transfer limitations for older version users, instructions on HOW TO TRANSFER, why a failure occurs, and how to move forward after a transfer failure.
Older versions may still be used without upgrading as long as the serial number can be controlled (activated and deactivated) properly by the end user. Freehand provides (later in this article) links to older version installers. If and when control over of the serial number is finally lost, upgrading to Black Pearl is the fast resolve.
The TRANSFER feature provided in AccuRIP Software is a benefit providing users the ability to move a serial number (License) on their own when computer conditions are ready/available for the procedure.
Why move a License?
You are experiencing signs of hardware/hard drive issues, will be updating an OS, planning to reformat the hard drive, replacing a motherboard, replacing the hard drive, sending the computer in for service, purchased a new computer, or any number of other reasons.
The Transfer Feature:
The Transfer feature offers control that is limited by the condition of a users hardware, operating system, and ISP.
Some of the technological environment limitations that can prevent a successful transfer:
- Internet Service Provider (ISP connection issues/failures to sync with server)
- Hardware and OS software (computer issues), failures, and crashes
- Hard drive issues, failures, and crashes
- Reformatted hard drives (hardware)
- Operating system upgrade or updates (manual or automatic)
- Restoring applications/programs from backup or migrating (cloning) data
Use of out-of-production (old version) software is limited by a user's personal environment (OS, hardware, hard drive, etc.), it is incumbent on the user to maintain the most stable computer environment to prevent downtime and issues. End User License Agreements provide limited warranties on the use of the License. Issues with user hardware and operating systems are NOT covered for out of production software and the License holders.
Freehand's Activation Server offers specific information to the technicians, and the Error Messages on-screen also provide definitive information to technicians and users.

How to Transfer:
There are two options. Depending on status of the License (serial number), The older version 1.03 AccuRIP Licensing Server will or will not complete a Transfer / Reactivation. The Black Pearl Edition will allow the continued use of AccuRIP through the issuing of the latest installer and a NEW Black Pearl specific Serial Number. Start with Option One below.
This option is reliant on both the original computer and the alternate hosting computer is in proper working order. The original computer can not have been altered, had a failure, reformatted, etc.
On the original computer hosting AccuRIP:
1.On the original hosting computer, download and run the old version 1.03 Installer. Allow the installer to replace any previous installed version. Use legacy installer download links below.
2. Restart the computer.
3. Launch AccuRIP, if previously deactivated/reactivate and wait 15 minutes.
4. Go to ACTIVATION Menu choose TRANSFER.
5. Wait at least 15 minutes
While you are waiting for 15 minutes to pass...
On the alternative/next computer that you wish to host AccuRIP on.
6. Download the same old version 1.03 Installer. If a previous install exist, allow the installer to install over any previous version.
7. Launch AccuRIP
8. Enter the same/original SERIAL NUMBER in the Enter Serial Number field during the install or from the Purchase Menu/Enter Serial Number.
Transfer Failed. What Next?
